West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation allows the public to conduct a West Virginia offender lookup via its official website page. The public can search for inmates in prisons and jails and gather information on escapees and absconders. Once you access the website, all you will need is the inmate's name or at least the first three letters of their name, press "Search" to begin.  

The information on the website is gathered and updated as often as possible by the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority. Remember, there is a high chance that the current inmate information may not be the same tomorrow as the data may change. There are occasions when you might not be able to access certain inmate information, like their current location and release date for security-related reasons.  

General Inmate Search Instructions in West Virginia 

Supposes you would like to gather inmate data on daily incarcerations, inmates in jails, inmates in prison, and those that have escaped custody; below are instructions to follow. 

Daily Incarcerations search  

After agreeing to the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation terms of service and disclaimer on their website, you can access the daily incarcerations on the facilities pages.  

Secondly, you will be required to select the facility's county, solve a CAPTCHA, and click on search. Search results will be displayed to access and identify the inmate you are interested in.  

Jail Inmate Search 

Visit West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation website, and select the Offender Search (Jails) for a faster jail inmate search. The page will require the inmate's first and last name and solving of a CAPTCHA before clicking the search button.  

The search results will only display inmates held in a West Virginia jail. Click on the inmate you are interested in for a more detailed discovery about them.  

Prison Inmate Search  

Still under the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation website, quickly access information on inmates currently incarcerated in West Virginia prisons through the offender search tool. To access an inmate's details, you will require the inmate ID (OID) number or the inmate's first and last name. The first three letters of the offender's name or the first four digits of the offender's ID (OID) number are also enough to provide you with a list of results.  

Click on the search button, and a results list will be displayed with almost similar data to the one you provided. Go through the inmate roster to identify your inmate. Click on More Info to view detailed information on the same inmate.

West Virginia Inmate Rosters contains the criminal records of those held in West Virginia Corrections and Rehabilitation facilities. Their records are considered public by the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act. Therefore any public member within and outside the state can gain access to inmates held in West Virginia prisons, jails, and those that have escaped custody.
