Oklahoma

Oklahoma's inmate records are considered public records, making it easy for interested parties to access them. The Oklahoma department of corrections website has created a platform that allows one to access inmate data.

Searching for Inmates in Oklahoma

Below is a search process for inmates currently incarcerated in Oklahoma.

  1. Visit the Oklahoma department of corrections website and identify the offender locator tool. The tool is designed to provide all criminal records on inmates except those in juvenile correctional facilities and those in county jails.
  2. Provide the inmate's last name in the search box, after which you will be required to complete the Captcha and click search. Suppose you do not have the inmate's last name; you could provide their DOC number, first name, or date of birth.
  3. Several inmate rosters will be provided for you on the screen. Often, the inmates on the screen have similar or almost similar data to the one you provided in the search box.
  4. Scroll through the roster and click on the name of the inmate you were looking for. More detailed information about the inmate, including their alias data, crime/crimes committed, conviction, booking date, and projected release date will pop up.

Searching for a Sex and Violent Offender

The Department of Corrections in Oklahoma requires all sex and violent offenders to be registered with them, the probation and parole office, and law enforcement immediately after being released from custody or when they arrive. How long the offender stays registered with the department depends on the level of the sex offense; for instance, level 3 sex offender will register their names with the department for the rest of their lives, level 2 sex offenders for 25 years, and level 1 for 15 years. Failure to register will warrant a jail time of up to 5 years.

The sex and violent offender registration unit maintains all the records of sex offenders and violent criminals and provides the data to the public to promote public safety. Therefore, to conduct a Sex and Violent Offender look up in, you will be required to:

  1. Visit the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Offender Registry.
  2. Provide the offender's last and first name.
  3. Also, provide the DOC case number if you have it to narrow down the search result.

You may also use the Oklahoma department of corrections website to perform an Oklahoma offender lookup for those on death row. Once on the website, identify and click on the death row list, provide the necessary inmate details, and the database will provide you with the inmate's information.

Those that obtain inmate records from The Department of Corrections website should not use the records as official documents or for publication; the department will also not be held responsible for any harm brought about by the publication of such inmate data.

Oklahoma Inmate Roster

Oklahoma Inmate Roster contains detailed inmate information, including the person's name, birth date, age, race, gender, physical description, mugshots, fingerprints, DNA, video, audio, crime details, court information, charges, convictions, and sentencing.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections gathers this inmate information from local law enforcement, the courts, confinement facilities, and other government agencies. It keeps the data and ensures it is readily available to the public.

About the Oklahoma Department of Corrections

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections oversees all the operations and management of correctional institutions in Oklahoma. Its headquarters is at 3400 North Martin Luther King Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 7311-4298. The government agency takes care of 24 Oklahoma prisons and 93 county jails. The DOC not only gathers and distributes inmate information to the public, but it is also their responsibility to take care of inmates in state prisons and those on probation or parole.

The department comprises a state board of corrections, state director of corrections, and three divisions: the division of institutions, the probation and parole division, and the division of inspection.

The department has also made it its priority to develop programs to enhance rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates before they are released into society. Such programs include education programs that provide adult basic education and high school equivalency and vocational programs to enhance inmates' skills.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections first began its operations in 1890, making it one of the oldest departments of corrections. Apart from making sure Oklahoma is a safe state by holding and rehabilitating law offenders, the department has also been a source of income for many by offering jobs.
