Nevada Inmate Search

Updated on: February 15, 2024
Nevada

There are several offender lookup tools made available by various private and public entities, and among them is the official search page of the Nevada Department of Corrections. On the NDOCs website, you'll find menus for inmate search along with visiting, education, family, banking, and information on available records.

You can make your inmate search by Offender ID or by Demographics, meaning their first and last name. Once you hit Submit, the results will include all inmate's past and present, with a file with the DOC.

If you hover your cursor over the Offender IDs listed, a mugshot of the inmate appears, and you can click on the one closest to the individual you're looking for. Once selected, the Nevada offender lookup page returns all the information about an inmate's processes within the justice and correctional systems.

At the top of the file is a date denoting the last time the information therein was updated, and you'll know if you've hit your search mark by scanning the listings included. Beneath that, there's a row holding individual's identification details, which include:

  • Name and offender ID
  • Gender and ethnicity
  • Age, height, weight, and build
  • Skin complexion, hair, and eye color
  • Institution and level of custody
  • Aliases and prior felonies

Beneath this ID and demographics segment are the booking information column containing details of the inmate's offense code, description, and sentencing status. Other sentence particulars include the county an inmate was sentenced to, its type, when it started, and the date it potentially ends.

An enlargeable inmate photo at the bottom of the NDOCs offender search results lets you identify the facial characteristics of the prisoner. Alongside this are details of any parole hearings, including the offender's booking ID, hearing dates, and location.

Nevada Inmate Roster

If you can't find an inmate's details or their location using the NDOCs offender lookup service, you can look through city and county jail rosters. A roster is a regularly updated list maintained by either the department of corrections, sheriff, or police department, listing all the inmates housed within a facility.

You should note that inmate information for offenders younger than 18 years is not shareable with the public and the same goes for inmates in protective custody. If an offender's details are available on the county of offense's website, they're likely incarcerated in a facility within that jurisdiction.

The NDOCs Victim Services Unit is another viable route you can take to find an inmate currently incarcerated in Nevada, and it's under the regulation of the DOC. Meant to support victims of criminals in custody, on probation, on parole, or in work programs, the VSU provides its services in compliance with state and federal laws.

The VSU communicates an inmate's status changes and court or parole board appearances to victims and interested parties using notifications. By filling in a victim's notification form, you can request the service where you'll get notified alongside witnesses, an offender's victims, and other threatened persons.

Besides the VSU, Nevada also partners with VINELink, which offers the public unspecified and unrestricted account openings. Another of this state's victims' support services, notifications include details of an inmate's incarceration and rehabilitation in a Nevada state, city, and county. That also includes offenders on parole, probation, work, or release programs across the state.

About the Nevada State Department of Corrections

The Nevada Department of Corrections or DOC is the government agency responsible for maintaining inmates in safe, humane conditions. For incarceration, the department, whose first prison was created by the Territorial Legislature in the 1860s, operates 22 state prisons and 25 county and ten city jails.

The DOC is committed to fostering rehabilitation that reduces recidivism, and they manage all facilities in the state with a $340 million annual budget. With a current state prison population of approximately 13,500 and another 6,800 plus in county and city jails, the department employs nearly 3,000 staff members.

Besides adult incarceration facilities, the NDOC supervises ten conservation camps and five county juvenile detention centers in Nevada, two for transitional purposes. Along with housing inmates, the department oversees more than 13 million individuals that report probation and parole officers to the states.

The DOC is headquartered at the old Stewart Indian School, Carson City, where the investigations, medical, and prison industries divisions are housed. There are also administration and personnel offices on this property, the southern part sitting within the Casa Grande Transitional Housing facility.
