Hawaii Inmate Search

Hawaii

While there's no inmate locator on the state of Hawaii's Department of Corrections or DOC website, rosters and news items are posted. These include an inmate's information, their mug-shot, and links to the VINELink system, where you'll find details of an incarcerated person.

Records for Hawaii inmates will include their home address, arrest or warrant paperwork, police reports, court records, evidence, identification details, and other digital files. They also provide basic information like trial documents, sentencing, and transfer orders through the justice and correction system within and outside the islands.

For your Hawaii offender lookup, there's one federal and four state prisons, plus jail for each of the nine counties on the Hawaiian Islands. Jails temporarily hold inmates being transferred to other units, sometimes during the start, middle, or the end of their sentences.

To search for an inmate in the state correctional system of Hawaii:

  • Visit the VINELink system, select Hawaii, and select 'Find an Offender,' which registers you to receive a custody status update.
  • Perform an inmate search using the offender's last and first names and their offender ID. If you don't have this number, proceed to the next step, which filters inmates by surnames.
  • Results may show several inmates currently incarcerated with similar last names, so check them and select the inmate you're interested in.
  • Click on the inmate's record to see a 'More Info' section, where you'll find additional details of their incarceration.

Expect to find facts on the inmate you're searching for, such as their gender, custody status, and the facility they're serving their sentence in Hawaii. Also listed are their aliases, race, physical description, crime committed, offender ID, and means of contact.

Hawaii Inmate Roster

You can find information on an incarcerated person in Hawaii in the Hawaii Department of Corrections or DOC inmate roster. It allows you to search their database for any inmate in the Islands county jails and prisons when you provide the name, arrest location, and other records.

Under the Hawaii Department of Public Safety, inmate records searchable on the roster are available under the Uniform Information Practices Act. Besides their term of incarceration, and unless records are subject to restrictions or they're for juveniles, you'll find the offender's name, date of birth, and charges in the inmate roster.

You can contact any Hawaii Department of Correction facility to perform an inmate search, as each prison or jail maintains an independent roster. However, the DOC lets you search for an offender using the SAVIN platform on the VINELink system for more accurate and comprehensive information.

Since inmate records are considered public information in the US, you'll find links to the roster through state agencies and websites for third-party organizations. Using an aggregate site for your search will provide details of where the offender resides, including city and county. It's easier if you know the inmate's first and last names and their department of corrections or DOC ID number.

You can also search for individual inmates currently incarcerated or look up the registration of a past offender via their specified service provider, depending on their offense. Listed on the Hawaii inmate roster are current inmates alongside any offender incarcerated since the early 70s.

About The State Department of Corrections in Hawaii

The Hawaii Department of Public Safety oversees the Corrections Division, under which are the Islands County jails and state prisons. Its mission involves upholding public safety and justice by providing law enforcement and correctional services with fairness, integrity, and professionalism.

Under the DPS is Hawaii's Department of Corrections and its Inmate Classification Office, or ICO, whose mandate is to monitor facility placement and custody designations of inmates. The ICO implements the department's operations of statewide correctional facilities to ensure efficiency and uniformity.

The ICO uses classification instruments with the program coordination office to determine programs for inmates to participate in, custody levels, and facility placements. Three of Hawaii's state facilities are on Oahu Island, including the Women's Community Correctional Center, while Big Island is home to Kulani Correctional Facility.

On the US mainland, the Saguaro Correctional Center houses Hawaii's inmates, while the islands' jail populations consist of male and female prisoners. The Hawaii Department of Corrections maintains an inmate database alongside wanted fugitives, prison escapees, and the federal government.
