Arkansas Inmate Search

Updated on: February 25, 2024
Arkansas

The State of Arkansas provides prisoner information and records to the public through the state’s Division of Correction official website. This is subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. You can either use the search tool provided or download the entire database.

How to Search for an Inmate

You can either download the whole prisoner database to your computer or use the search tool on the website.

Inmate Search Tool

If you prefer using the online search tool, here’s what you do:

  • Step 1: Head over to the website and locate the Inmate Search Tool
  • Step 2: The search tool allows you to use either the prisoner’s ADC or their personal information such as name, age, sex and race. However, you must have at least the prisoner’s last name to search. The ADC number is the most accurate as every prisoner has their own unique ADC number.
  • Step 3: Agree to the disclaimer below the search entries and begin your search. The results will first show the inmate’s name, gender, race, facility and date of birth.

Inmate Database Download

The database is available for download through the state’s Information Network of Arkansas (INA). They update and post the file every Monday. To access it, you’re required to part with $0.10 per record, payable to the INA.

Arkansas Inmate Roster

On the inmate roster, you’ll be able to see the particulars of anybody for whom you want information. The offender’s record in the roster includes their bio data example name, age, appearance, unique body marks, race, aliases and more.

Besides their personal information you’ll be able to view their current prison sentence history, length of sentence and probation information.

If you would like to visit an inmate in any facility in Arkansas, you’ll need to be pre-approved first. The Arkansas Department of Corrections requires you to register for pre-approval online.

About Arkansas Department of Corrections

The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) is the law enforcement agency responsible for overseeing prisoners in the State of Arkansas. The agency primarily manages the operations of state prisons in the state.

The modern-day department was formed by the state’s cabinet in 2019, but its role in providing oversight to the state’s penitentiaries dates back to the late 1830s. The main role of the Arkansas DOC is to provide safety to civilians.

They achieve their goals by carrying the entire out-of-court mandate in providing a functional and safe incarceration system for inmates alongside staff members. The department currently manages 20 correctional facilities spread across 12 counties in the state. The department oversees reentry and adult parole programs.

While the prison system is currently well established with over 19,000 inmates and about 4,000 employees and staff, its history is all but good. Arkansas garnered a reputation back in the 60’s for having the most violent and corrupt prison systems in the US. However, with much needed administration change and oversight, things got better in the mid 90’s on the way to becoming the well-organized prison system it is today.

Federal Prisons in Arkansas

Arkansas has two stand-alone federal prison facilities, and one minimum-security prison camp. The Forrest City Medium Federal Correctional Institution in St. Francis County houses these prisons and the satellite prison camp as well. The facility currently has about 2,000 male inmates housed in six jails each with multiple cells. To date, there is no prison facility in Arkansas that houses female inmates.

The prison also has an education program for inmates providing the General Education Development program, Adult Continuing Education, English as a Second Language among others.

Inmates at the facility are guaranteed five visiting points each month, with visitation happening on weekends and federal holidays. The medium security prison allows up to four adults and five children visiting at a time. It is located at 1400 Dale Bumpers Road, Forrest City, AR 72335.

State Prisons in Arkansas

As mentioned earlier, there are currently 20 state prisons in Arkansas. The most populous prison in the state is the Ouachita River Unit off Highway 67 South in Hot Spring County with the capacity to house 1782 inmates. In the flipside, the Northwest Arkansas Work Release Center Springdale, Washington County is the smallest, capable of housing 100 offenders.

In addition, the state has a parole and community corrections agency; the Division of Community Corrections (DCC). The division runs six facilities within the state where the state’s Parole Board delivers its mandate.
