A RESOLUTION of the Mayor and Commissioners of the Town of Elkton adopting the Town of Elkton’s ‘Hazard Mitigation Plan’.

WHEREAS, local jurisdictions must adopt a hazard mitigation plan, in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulations, effective November 1, 2003, to remain eligible for Public Assistance; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Commissioner recognize the importance of protecting the citizens of the Town of Elkton from future disasters by reducing or eliminating vulnerability before the next disaster threatens; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Elkton’s ‘Hazard Mitigation Plan’ identifies mitigation strategies for local hazards and risk areas.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and Commissioners hereby adopt the Town of Elkton’s ‘Hazard Mitigation Plan’ and that the plan shall be subsequently submitted to FEMA for approval.
